Hot on the heels of The Artists of Morley, this summer we’ll also be shining the spotlight on our music, dance and drama students, aka The Performers of Morley.
Throughout June and July, Morley is hosting around 20 concerts and performances, many of which are free or low cost.
Fenella Juanita Barker – Performer, Teacher, Choreographer – Flamenco, Spanish Dance, Ballet & Other Dance Styles
Fenella attended her first ballet class at age four and had her television debut as a professional dancer in 1977 on BBC1’s Billy Smart’s Children’s Circus. She has been teaching dance at Morley College London for 27 years, currently in Flamenco, Spanish Dance and Ballet (including Silver Swans).
Fenella has worked full time as a professional dancer, teacher and choreographer since 1990, touring to USA, Canada and throughout UK and Europe, working in theatre, opera, cabaret, cruises, TV, video and film. In London she has performed in numerous venues including the Royal Opera House, Barbican, ICA, Wembley, Earl’s Court and Olympia.
Fenella is currently performing with Grupo Flamenco de Londres, Flamenco y Danza and also as a freelance solo artist, with recent work including a performing residency in London along with theatre performances as far away as Spain and Malta.
Flavio Li Vigni – Jazz Drummer, Composer & Educator
Flavio Li Vigni, hailing from Palermo, Sicily, Italy, is a London-based jazz drummer, composer, and educator. He earned his degree in Jazz Performance from The Prince Claus Conservatory under the mentorship of American jazz drummer Ralph Peterson.
Beyond his role in academia, Flavio maintains an active international performance schedule. He has collaborated with artists such as Greg Hutchinson, Ameen Saleem, and the “Orchestra Macchina di Suoni” featuring Dave Kikoski.
A fixture in the London jazz circuit, Flavio has played at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, The Queen Elizabeth Hall, Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express, and the Vortex.
