Green Pledge Day
On the 3 December 2024, Green Pledge Day was held at the Emma Cons Hall in Waterloo, marking the college’s initiative to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable living among students. The event featured an engaging series of workshops designed to educate and empower participants with practical knowledge and actionable insights.
Students explored pressing environmental challenges, such as air pollution and climate change, through interactive activities that emphasized personal accountability and the power of behavioural changes. By connecting everyday actions to broader environmental outcomes, participants gained a deeper understanding of their potential to contribute positively to the planet.
Practical solutions for sustainable living were a central focus of the day. Students learned how small changes, like using energy-efficient bulbs and adopting water-saving techniques, can significantly impact resource conservation. Moreover, they learned how simple efforts to use water wisely at home not only help conserve resources but also reduce energy bills.
Creativity and sustainability were seamlessly integrated as students participated in activities like designing personalized tote bags. This hands-on session underscored the importance of reuse and waste reduction, offering a tangible reminder of their commitment to sustainable practices.
The event concluded with students taking a pledge and indicating their dedication to protecting the environment. Through education, practical tools, and creative engagement, the day empowered participants to take meaningful steps towards a greener future.
