Would you like to write but don’t know how to get started? Do you long to write but tell yourself writing is for other people, not you? Have you got a story you’d like to tell but don’t know where to begin? Or maybe you have started to write and would like some support to keep going? Come and join this fun and supportive workshop-based course to discover more about the writing process, learn skills, develop your voice and get started as a writer. You don’t have to know what you want to write about or even what genre, you’ll get the chance to uncover this as the course goes on.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Complete basic writing exercises
  • Write your own piece of writing
  • Refine and improve your own pieces of writing
  • Start to find your own voice as a writer.

Class format and activities

This is a fun and supportive in person course with group discussion, a look at how other writers work, prompts and written exercises and the chance to begin workshopping your work in a safe, supportive environment.

Fluency in spoken and written English

No previous experience necessary but curiosity and the willingness to show up and commit to the process will help you get the most from it.
