Explore printmaking and image making in this vibrant workshop class. All students work individually to expand and improve skills and spend time developing personal projects with help and advice from the tutor. Students of all levels will work alongside each other in the print studio, and will be able to share experiences and expand knowledge through group discussion and one-to-one interactions. Beginners explore different print techniques to build understanding and knowledge, with a different focus each term. This term during the first half of term beginners will focus on Mono printing, Drypoint with Chine Collé and exploring various Collagraph methods to create interesting artworks. In the second part of the term students will exlpore etching techniques including hard and soft ground, create marks onto the surface of their plates and students will be able to apply an aquatint to their plates to generate tone In subsequent terms beginners are able to advance by exploring different print techniques to expand their printmaking skills and repertoire. The class incorporates set projects alongside working on personal projects in order for students to integrate new ideas into their individual practice. All students are encouraged to keep a sketch book in order to keep a simultaneous record of progress and document an individual journey of study. Throughout the course there will be opportunities for the group to look at work, examine ideas and technique. Students at all levels are encouraged to work toward exhibiting artwork and to enter competitions. Students will be encouraged to gain a good knowledge of contemporary printmaking practice by visiting art exhibition and print collections.
