What is the ‘Open Source Artist’? Learn to use a range of free and open creative art and design software as alternatives to commercial products. In addition to learning to use this software you will also learn about the open source history and philosophy of collaboration and creation. Why would anyone use and make software that is free? How does this way of working impact on issues of copyright licensing? What are there implications for how we might create and work today?
The course central focus is developing confidence with using free creative art and design software. There will be some additional class-based discussion and learning relating to the subject.
Curiosity about the subject. It is advised that you have at least a basic level of computer literacy.
