What is the ‘Open Source Artist’? Learn to use a range of free and open creative art and design software as alternatives to commercial products. In addition to learning to use this software you will also learn about the open source history and philosophy of collaboration and creation. Why would anyone use and make software that is free? How does this way of working impact on issues of copyright licensing? What are there implications for how we might create and work today?

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Discover the history of the Opensource movement
  • Explore copyright licensing and its relation to a collaborative and creative mindset
