The Marriage of Shakespeare and Flamenco Performance Project Spring Term 2025 will build on the successful experience of our summer term 2024 course. Working with course tutors Fenella Barker and Danielle Allan and supported by guitar accompanist Juan Giraldo, you will develop skills in acting. dancing and singing across six Friday evening sessions, exploring a creative interplay between Shakespearean text, flamenco dance and song. Integral to the course outcomes, students will present performance material generated as part of their study period at the Dance Department's Dance and Drama Marketplace event on Saturday, February 15th. Practical warm-up in dance and voice; study and rehearsal of spoken Shakespearean text, flamenco dance and song; development of performance material for an end of course in-studio staging
Some previous experience of either acting or flamenco dance is recommended.
