What you will learn

Are you a creative person looking to turn your passion for craft into a career? The T Level in Craft and Design is perfect for learners with a creative eye and interest in jewellery design. With 20% of your time spent on work placement and 80% learning hands-on skills and studying the creative industries, this course will prepare you for higher education, the workplace and beyond!

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the creative economy, and how to run a business in this sector.
  • Use practical making skills in the Occupational Specialism of your choice
  • Use practical design skills
  • Use and understand project methodology and administration, professionalism, and ethics.
  • Applying professional standards and conduct in the workplace.
  • Gain vital research, communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Understand cultural context, vocabulary, and audience.

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: T Level Technical Qualification in Craft and Design [EDEXCEL]

Class format and activities

The qualification consists of 4 areas, • Core - classroom based work where you learn about the Creative Industries • Employer set project - an extended design project set by employers • Occupational Specialism - workshop-based skills where you learn your chosen craft • Industrial placement - an extended work experience placement in the profession you have chosen to study Like A levels, there are no tuition fees to study a T-level if you start before you are 19. Students who complete their T-level will receive an overall grade of pass, merit, distinction or distinction*. They will receive a nationally recognised certificate showing their overall grade and a breakdown of what they have achieved.

5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above including English and Maths

What you need to know before you enrol

The core knowledge and understanding are assessed through an examination, and craft and design skills through externally assessed practical projects. You must be aware of the attendance, self-study, and homework demands of the course.

What you need

Appropriate tools and equipment will be provided. Materials for each lesson will be provided, and additional materials can be purchased from the college. It would be an advantage if you have your own computer at home for independent study.
