What you will learn

An exploratory workshop aimed at musicians, visual artists or anyone interested in experimenting with sound. Learn to source and record found objects, then edit and manipulate the audio to make your own short sound pieces. Explore iconic works in this field and apply the techniques in your own practice.

Taking notes during lectures and audiovisual presentations Group and individual projectsIn order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

Entry requirements

A strong interest in music. Some experience of using Apple computers would be an advantage, but support during class will be given. Basic computer skills, file management, etc. Previous experience in composition and music/sound recording desirable but not essential.

What you need to know before you enrol

Some exercises, such as field recording, will be done outside of the classroom and will require students to carry a portable recording device. Due to the nature of the instruments/content of the course you might be exposed to high volume levels. We strongly encourage everyone to bring a pair of ear plugs to every lesson.
