What you will learn

Suitable for tap-dancers with a little experience, wanting to develop their skills beyond Beginner level and explore the new rhythms and techniques of rhythm tap: Rhythm Tap 2, an upbeat non-syllabus tap class, led by innovative tap company Sole Rebel.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explore the ability the change the rhythm, time signature or style of existing tap movements
  • Grow a confidence to explore musicality within your dancing

    A warm-up followed by a number of new tap steps are explored and practised, through dynamic exercises and a vast range of music. At the end of class a short fun routine is developed and rehearsed, built up across the course. You will also receive a weekly 5-minute routine-recap video to aid your practise.

    Entry requirements

    A good level of fitness. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, have any serious health concerns or a history of injury, and inform your tutor of any physical activity you have been advised to avoid.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    A good level of fitness is required to be able to do the practical work. However adjustments will be made to the movements to meet particular physical or learning needs. Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.

    What you need

    -Tap Shoes (Those returning to tap after a period off may bring hard soled shoes or boots which hold to the foot. Avoid trainers or slip-on shoes.) -Loose-fitting supporting clothing for ease of movement

    What you can do next

    There are two courses each term of 5-7weeks. Continue your development by signing up to the next course in Rhythm Tap 2. Use Rhythm Tap 1 to continue to build the foundations of your practice, or Rhythm Tap 3 to challenge yourself further. Please ask your tutor before changing to a new level.
