What you will learn

Ideal for those who have completed Radio Production & Podcasting 1 or have equivalent radio skills. This course will give you the necessary skills to set up your own studio, create and deliver your own podcast. You will also learn about portable recording equipment and how to use it in both podcasting and radio broadcasting context. At the end of the term, you will take part in a live Morley Radio ‘Takeover’ where you will present some of the content you have created during the course.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Set-up your own podcasting home studio
  • Use portable equipment on location – doing vox pops and interviews
  • Record interviews with remote guests via Zoom or similar
  • Use advanced features of Adobe Audition to create high quality audio material

Class format and activities

There will be lectures with recorded illustrations, demonstrations, practical work, handouts and discussions.

Entry requirements

Completion of Radio Production 1, or similar course or evidence of equivalent experience. Familiarity with a Digital Audio Workstation or DAW (e.g. Logic, Audacity, ProTools, or similar) is desirable but not essential.

What you need to know before you enrol

There will be a certain amount of work outside the class. Due to the nature of the content of the course you might be exposed to high volume levels. We strongly encourage everyone to bring a pair of ear plugs to every lesson.
