What you will learn

This short and engaging 5 week course will introduce you to the basic principles of nutrition. Through the course you will gain an overview of the basic building blocks of what, when and how to eat effectively to improve wellness, fitness and health.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts of nutritional health
  • Describe the nutritional recommendations for dietary intake
  • Describe the basic characteristics of essential nutrients
  • Provide an understanding of food labelling and the ability to use information from food labels
  • Provide an understanding of how an individual’s dietary requirements change throughout their life
  • Increase understanding of the role of a healthy diet for weight management

  • Class format and activities

    The class will be taught in our custom built labs at our North Kensington Centre. You will be taught in a number of different ways including presentation, discussions and problem solving tasks. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above.In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

    No prior knowledge is required. The course is open to all with an interest in nutrition and health.
