Class format and activities
The mode of delivery for this course involves a combination of in-centre learning, online delivery. The Microsoft Teams online platform and supported apps are used to support learning together with videos to review lectures, work-based learning activities, presentations, tutorials, online learning, workshops, critical debates, and seminars. In addition, you will be supported by a work-based professional advocate and tutors at Morley College London. Progress is measured by assignments, work-related projects, demonstration of professional competence in work-based situations, and practical activities that apply the knowledge you have gained. There are no written exams. When not attending timetabled sessions, you will be expected to continue learning independently through self-study. This typically will involve reading articles and books, working on individual projects, undertaking preparing coursework assignments and presentations Your independent learning is supported by a range of excellent facilities including online resources, the library and Canvas, the online virtual learning platform.
Entry Requirements
We welcome applications from anyone with relevant work and experience and capable of reaching the standards required by the qualification. All students are expected to have a good standard of computer literacy. Applicants will be invited for interview to discuss their work and experience in more detail. Students who have recently been in education are likely to need one of the following: - a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Business - a GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C (or equivalent) and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in subjects such as maths and English - other related Level 3 qualifications an Access to Higher Education Diploma from an approved further education institution - relevant work experience, or - an international equivalent to the above qualifications Our Recognition of Prior Learning policy means that students’ previous learning and experience can be taken into account, and they may be awarded certain qualifications or units of a qualification based on that learning or experience. Students applying for this course that is taught and assessed completely in English will need a certain level of English language skills. Before accepting students onto a programme, we will make sure that those who are non-native English speakers and who have not carried out their final two years of schooling in English can demonstrate ability at a standard equivalent to: - Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2 - PTE Academic 51, or - IELTS 5.5 (reading and writing must be at 5.5)
Before you enrol
This course will be delivered in person by attendance at college and online via live webinars and e-learning. All students will need to attend college and access live webinars and e-learning 2 afternoons/evenings each week between 1pm to 8:30pm on a Tuesday and Thursday during the autumn term. Students are expected to undertake independent study and complete assignments and coursework outside of college time. The College has a range of specialist resources to support the delivery of the programme. You will have access to computers, scanners, and printers in the HTQ Business department and in the College’s learning centre. Students will be assessed through graded projects and coursework, assignments, and reflective journals.

What you can do next
On completion of this module students can apply for the full-time HND in Leadership & Management (HTQ). The credits achieved on completion of this module will be recognised as prior learning for enrolment onto the full-time course. This is a 2-year programme, with the first year providing a solid foundation in leadership and management, which students can build on if they decide to continue their studies. Completion of the second year allows students to progress to degree-level study, or into employment at lower or middle management roles. Once students have achieved the Level 5 Higher National Diploma, they can develop their career in the respective sector by: • entering employment• continuing existing employment and seeking promotion• linking with the appropriate professional body• committing to continuing professional development, or• studying at university Progression to University: The Level 5 Higher National Diploma is recognised by Higher Education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant business-related courses, for example: • BA (Hons) Leadership and Management for Business • BA (Hons) Business Studies with Leadership and Management • BA (Hons) Business Management • BA Business and Human Resource Management • BA (Hons) Global Business Management BSc (Hons) Digital Business Management.
