The Marriage of Shakespeare and Flamenco Song and Dance Summer Term 2025 course builds on the successful spring term pilot course run in January and February 2025. Course tutors Danielle Allan and Fenella Juanita Barker, supported by musical accompanist Juan Giraldo, will guide you through this unique course, combining the study of the skills of Shakespearean acting, flamenco singing and flamenco dance towards a performance showing at the college's end of year performance event Dance Fusion on the evening of Friday, July 4th. Important: please contact either tutor Danielle Allan (Danielle.Allan@morleycollege.ac.uk) or tutor Fenella Barker (fenella.barker@morleycollege.ac.uk) to arrange a brief pre-course meeting (phone call or online) for an initial assessment of your previous experience (if any) and consideration of which aspect/s of the course you would most like to explore..
You will have the opportunity to study all three disciplines (drama, dance and singing) and to specialise in one or more as the course unfolds. You will develop vocal, physical, movement and performance skills and work together, supported by tutors Fenella Juanita Barker and Danielle Allan, and with musician Juan Giraldo, to create short musical theatre scenes combing speech, song and dance.
This course is suitable for those interested in acting, dancing and singing used for the purpose of live performance.
Please feel free to contact tutors Fenella Juanita Barker at fenella.barker@morleycollege.ac.uk (dance) and / or Danielle Allan at danielle.allan@morleycollege.ac.uk (acting and song) if you have any questions or wish to let them know which of these three elements are of particular interest to you.
