What you will learn

In this 4 weeks introduction to Kitchen Litho, you'll learn how to use simple materials that are readily available in your kitchen to create stunning prints. You'll explore the principles of lithography and discover how to create printing plates by drawing and mark-making.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Students will gain the fundamental knowledge and skills to create unique and expressive lithographic prints using accessible materials and techniques.
  • Students will learn the principles of lithography, and how to prepare and process plates, experiment with various drawing materials, and produce a small edition of well-executed prints that showcase their creativity and grasp of the process.
  • Students will gain the confidence to continue exploring and developing their kitchen lithography practice independently beyond the course.

Class format and activities

In this small group course, students will learn through tutor-led presentations, demonstrations, and one-to-one tutorials. They'll gain practical experience in lithography, explore image-making and mark-making techniques, and create their own lithography edition. The tutor will provide ongoing support and feedback to foster creativity and skill development.

Entry requirements

There is no prior printmaking experience required, this course is suitable for all.
