Building on your Kathak skills, this course prepares students for solo, duo and group performance. You will be involved in the choreographic process of a new dance piece, which will be created for the project. You will have the opportunity to take part in a public performance at the end of the course. Please note: the course is suitable for those enrolled on Kathak Intermediate. Have the opportunity to contribute in terms of ideas and movements for inclusion in the item through video clips, audio recordings etc 3. Being prepared to do some work at home for the digital recordings - clapping rhythm, suggesting movements etc In addition to your dance practice, study can include the use of digital resources such as film & photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning. Dance study offers a range of benefits including being an enjoyable way to increase fitness whilst enhancing well being. Dance study at Morley can also enhance employment opportunities and increase skills., physical dexterity and concentration.
Approximately two years' training in Kathak. For students with previous experience of dance the time span may be reduced. Online enrolment on term 3 of this course is only available to those enrolled in the previous term. If you are a current student you will have received an email alerting you to this. The course will help develop strength and stamina but a basic level of fitness is required to be able to undertake continuous exercise for about an hour with a short break for stretching and a drink of water. The dancers are required to dance in bare feet. Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.
Clothes that allow ease of movement, hence a long t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms are adequate. Salwar Kameez for females and kurta pyajama for males will imbibe the spirit of the dance form A bottle of water. A notebook and pen
