This course offers beginners the chance to learn about how to carve wax to make their own jewellery pieces. By the end of this 6-week course, you will know how to carve wax to make your own rings and other small pieces of jewellery. You will also learn how to familiarise yourself in our well-stocked jewellery studio in Morley College North Kensington. The course will focus on handling carving wax and creating both formal carved models and experimental works. This widely used commercial technique is popular because it offers an opportunity for repetition and batch production as well as the freedom to explore sculptural jewellery designs. The course will include liaison with an established commercial casting company and students will be required to pay a fee to produce a cast piece of their own in either bronze or silver at a cost of approximately £7 - £20. There will be an additional small fee of £2.50 for materials.
Practical, tutor-led workshops in the North Kensington Jewellery studio.
