Explore three-dimensional metalworking using the technique of curved score folding. Learn how to shape wire and how to use it to score sheet metal to create some unique pieces of jewellery. The tutor Paul Wells has developed these innovative techniques as shown in his book "New Jewellery Techniques- Curved Scoring and Folding for Metalwork and Silversmithing". Suitable for all levels.
After looking at and discussing examples and samples, the tutor will demonstrate scoring and folding techniques over the four days. These will then be practiced with help and guidance from the tutor. Students will make samples of the techniques from base metals, which will be supplied by the college.
The course is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced jewellers who want to try out new ideas.
The jewellery studio is on the 3rd floor of the main building, there is lift access. You need a moderate level of fitness to be able to use jewellery equipment. Please let the tutor know if you are pregnant and they will advise you as to necessary precautions.
