What you will learn

Elevate your drumming skills with our Jazz Drumming Workshop, designed for adult students with at least three years of experience in other styles or jazz. This intensive course will help you master the nuances of jazz drumming, preparing you to play in a jazz combo or big band. Topics will cover:• Working on your swing feel• Comping • Time• Analysing drumming vocabulary• Improving reading skills• Playing with brushes Explore intricate rhythms, develop your improvisation techniques, and gain a deeper understanding of jazz styles in a supportive and dynamic environment. Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

play your ride cymbal with more confidence and relaxation
accompany other jazz musicians with improved confidence and style awareness
play brush patterns for ballads, medium and up-tempo song
apply rudiments to play in the style
play with improved feel and coordination on the kit

Class format and activities

Our jazz drumming class features an interactive setup with two drumkits and drum pads for each student. The tutor will provide live demonstrations, complemented by video and audio examples. Transcriptions will be used to enhance learning. This hands-on approach ensures you gain practical experience and a deeper understanding of jazz drumming techniques.
