What you will learn

This course is an ideal introduction to the Japanese language and culture for holiday makers and short business trips. The course is designed for complete beginner students who have never studied the language before.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Pronounce Japanese words correctly.
  • Say everyday greetings.
  • Order food and drinks at bars and restaurants.
  • Shop in the supermarkets and the department stores.
  • Ask for the simple direction.

Class format and activities

The course will be delivered using spoken and written forms, and other tools including PowerPoint slides and interactive presentation. The teacher also uses colleges online learning platform Microsoft Teams. During the lesson students will interact using group or pair work, quizzes, games etc. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course, you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals.
