This course is for students who completed Minna no Nihongo Book 1 and 2, and also know some intermediate level grammar. In the class the teacher uses real text examples, eg.newspapers, novels, Manga, podcasts etc. This will build your confidence not only in Japanese grammar and speaking skills but also in some Japanese arts and culture.
The course will be delivered using spoken and written forms, and other tools such as Powerpoint, Podcasts etc. The teacher also uses the college’s online learning platform Microsoft Teams. During the lesson students will interact using group or in-pairs etc. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course, you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals.
You should have completed the grammar points of Minna no Nihongo Book 1 and 2. You should read and write approx. 350 Kanji. You should also be able to listen to and understand slow speed conversations encountered in daily life.
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class. You will be expected to access and use online resources to do your weekly homework.
You need to bring note-taking materials.
