What you will learn

Learn to speak Italian on this communicative course for beginners, with the emphasis on the practical use of Italian and the development of your speaking and listening skills so that you can begin communicating quickly in Italian. This course aims to introduce you to the basic aspects of the Italian language and to enable you to take part in simple conversations. You'll learn the necessary vocabulary and grammar to take part in simple conversations, and you'll lay the groundwork for future learning.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Introduce yourself, understand others and start a simple conversation
  • Make travelling arrangements
  • Obtain goods and services when in Italy such as booking accommodation, shopping, etc.
  • Talk about present events
  • Start to learn past tense

Class format and activities

This course is characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.

Entry requirements

No previous knowledge of Italian required. Topics covered will be kept simple
