What you will learn

This is an intensive revision course designed for students who are a few marks off a Grade 4 in English GCSE English Language

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

Achieve better marks in the reading comprehension questions
Write more clearly and coherently
Write more accurately, using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: GCSE (9-1) in English Language [AQA]

Class format and activities

The class will take place in centre and run once a week until the exam. We will focus on the high mark questions in the exam and aim to address areas where the student needs to build skills and confidence. We will also look at exam strategy and timing and help students manage anxiety about the test.

Entry requirements

Students need to be within 5 marks of the Grade 4 grade boundary and ideally will have done the AQA specification before. Learners can be returning Morley students or students who have taken the qualification at another institution.

Please bring a print out of your results showing the marks you achieved in GCSE English.

You need to work very hard to pass the exam in November. Be prepared to give it your all and to revise in your own time outside lessons

What you can do next

GCSE English Language is required by all universities and most apprenticeships. It allows you to progress to Level Three courses and makes you more attractive to employers.
