Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Digital Skills Career Progression - learn about the different types of job roles where digital skills are required and characteristics valued by employers to establish a successful career in today's digital economy
  • Documents - use software to prepare, process and produce a wide range of sophisticated and professional documents.
  • Spreadsheets - learn how to apply advanced formulae and functions to process and analyse data
  • Databases - develop the skills and knowledge to use database software tools

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Certificate in Digital and IT Skills [GATEWAY]

Class format and activities

You will study the following units: Spreadsheets, Presentations, Databases, Documents and have the opportunity to explore the importance of digital skills in the workplace, not just in the digital and IT industry, but also other industries. You will learn how digital skills are required in different types of job roles, and the digital skills valued by employers to establish a successful career in today’s digital economy. You will also identify their own career/progression goals and plan how they will develop their digital skills to meet their intended goals

Entry requirements

2 or more GCSEs at grade D / grade 3 or above or successful completion of a level 1 digital skills course and functional skills in English at level 1.

What you need to know before you enrol

We expect you to commit to the course by having 90% or above in attendance. You are more likely to be successful if you attend all your lessons. The sessions are face to face at our North Kensington centre. From time to time we reserve the right to have an online lesson. Assessment format: The method of assessment for the qualifications is through a portfolio of evidence. All assessments are subject to moderation and internal verification processes.

What you need

Ideally if you have a computer at home with internet access this will help support you practice your skills. You will need an USB and basic stationery, pens, paper and a folder.
