What you will learn

Join us on this course, and start learning French, the world's fifth most spoken language. Starting from scratch, you will learn to communicate in everyday situations (e.g. by giving and asking personal information about work, leisure and facilities). This course will help you develop the skills and confidence to get your message across.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • communicate in everyday situations (e.g. invite a friend out for a drink)
  • ask for clarification (e.g. je comprends pas)
  • give basic information about yourself (e.g. she suis prof)
  • make requests (e.g. je voudrais)

Class format and activities

Emphasis will be placed on speaking and listening than reading and writing. In addition to ongoing support from your tutor, there will be opportunities for you to study collaboratively as well as other opporttunities for you to study collaboratively as well as other opportunities to develop learner independence .Assessment Methods: Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.: progression to an advanced- level course. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor.

Entry requirements

No previous knowledge of French is required. This course is suitable for complete beginners or rusty low-level learners.

What you need to know before you enrol

Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires study outside of class time (at least 40 minutes a week).
