This 8 week course will allow you to master the art of tailoring as you learn essential techniques to modify and customise clothing for a perfect fit. Explore the intricacies of hemming, fitting, and adjusting garments to elevate your sewing skills

    Each week focuses on specific techniques and garment types. Activities include live demonstrations, guided practice sessions, and individual projects. Students receive personalised feedback and participate in group discussions.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    Activities in class can involve standing at high tables for a period of time. Please let the tutor know if this would be difficult for you. Sewing machines have a foot operated speed control. The fashion studios are on the first floor of the Chelsea Hortensia building and there is lift access to the first floor. Please note eating and drinking is not allowed in the fashion studios - you are allowed to have bottled water.

    What you need

    A sewing kit: fabric scissors, trimming scissors, tape measure, Dressmaking, tailor’s chalk, needle and threads. Stationery: Notebook and A4 folder. You must provide your own fabrics, haberdashery, threads, etc. for use on your projects, the purchase of these will be discussed during the first lesson.
