This course is for you if you would like to develop your understanding of written texts. It will help you to improve your ability to read a variety of text types about a wider range of subjects. In this course, you will develop reading, speaking and listening, and writing skills. Each term includes all four skills but focuses on a specific skill for the exam taken in that term. When you pass each skill you will receive a certificate for that particular skill. To achieve the full ESOL Level 1 qualification, you must pass Speaking and Listening Level 1, Reading Level 1 and Writing Level 1.

What you will learn

Class format and activities
You will work in pairs or small groups or individually. You will also have one-to-one discussions with your tutor to talk about your progress. You will experience a wide and varied range of activities such as listening to audio, role-play, reading aloud, writing activities, quizzes, word searches and other games. You will also use digital learning technologies to help you learn. You will have an individual learning plan with targets that are personal to you.
Entry requirements
You will take an initial assessment which will determine your current level of English. You may join this course if your assessed level is just below the standards at Level 1.
What you need to know before you enrol

You may be able to do the course for FREE depending on your personal circumstances. Independent study: A minimum of 4 hours per week, including regular practice of what you learn in class and completing any homework. Attendance and Punctuality: Making good progress on the course will depend on regular attendance and punctuality. A minimum of 90% attendance is required from students at Morley College London.
