What you will learn

This 12 week course is designed for those with little or no experience of print who would like to learn the basics of printmaking. You will learn a number of different printmaking techniques, printing both by hand and on a press. In the first six weeks you will concentrate on learning different techniques and the second six weeks you will work on a personal project with a theme. On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Extended Award in Progression (Entry 3) [OCNLR]. Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Be able to follow health, safety and hygiene guidelines at all times.
  • Be aware of planning and organisational skills
  • Understand the difference between craft equipment and materials.
  • Understand design elements.
  • Be able to produce an art or craft piece of work
  • Be able to explain their work to others

Class format and activities

Demonstration, Q&A and guidance by tutor both individual and group these are practical hands-on sessions to develop your understanding of printmaking. You will complete a sketchbook with help form the tutor.

Entry requirements

None – Beginners welcome no previous knowledge of printmaking is required.

What you need to know before you enrol

Excellent attendance and punctuality are required from all students, you need to be able to all the sessions to get the most out of this course. The college will provide an amount of materials, and a sketchbook for your projects. However you may need to pay for some materials if your allowance is used up. You will need to provide basic drawing materials. We will be based in C32 on the third floor there is lift access.

What you need

Pens, Pencils, clothes you do not mind getting dirty, closed toe shoes. Please bring any drawing equipment you have. The tutor can also advise you on tools to buy if you would like your own.
