What you will learn

These short courses in Photopolymer Etching (Tue Evening) at Morley College London Chelsea Centre will introduce you to a printmaking technique which uses UV light to transfer an image to a pre-sensitized plate. The plate is then developed in water, inked and printed in the traditional intaglio manner.

    You will learn to work in the light and well-equipped studio with specialist intaglio etching facilities. You will be introduced to the photopolymer etching technique step by step. The technique is taught by demonstration, one-to-one feedback and group tutorials, encouraging each student’s personal strengths and interests. Final prints can be submitted for our Exhibition in July when we enjoy a lively Private View to celebrate the work created during the year on all our courses

    Entry requirements

    These courses are suitable for those new to printmaking, photographers wanting to explore alternative photographic processes and those who wish to re-fresh their printmaking skills and the more experienced print student wishing to perfect their techniques and develop their personal work. Advanced students can work on their own projects.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    The Printmaking Studio is at the Morley College-Chelsea Centre, Hortensia Road SW10 just off the Kings and Fulham Roads, in the Carlyle building, room CG05 on the ground floor.

    What you need

    A selection of digital photographs stored on your phone, usb drive, memory card, etc. You also need to bring a pair of washing up gloves and apron. There is a studio fee payable each term to the tutor which covers basic materials, except paper and plates which you pay extra for as you use them. All materials are available to buy in the studio.
