You will learn to make a bowl in copper by using the traditional silversmithing techniques of blocking out, hammering and planishing. Through the development of these skills you will then be taught to form a vessel of your own design using the technique of raising. Other methods of manipulating metal, such as embossing to create sculptural designs in flat sheet will be introduced as the course progresses. Overall you will be introduced to the incomparable experience of hammering and forming sheet metal.
This is a practical course. To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
This course is available to complete beginners as well as more experienced learners.
We provide materials for onsite students at a cost-effective price, but also recommend bringing your own materials as desired.
