What you will learn

This study programme allows you to take a practical and applied approach to your learning in a vocational context. It covers the key scientific principles across biology, chemistry and physics with a focus of practical scientific skills. It provides an engaging, robust and broad introduction to applied science principles, making use of the state-of-the-art science laboratories at our North Kensington Centre, brand-new for 2022. The underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills that you will learn has been designed to reflect the needs of employers within the science, health and life science industries. Applied Science adopts a different structure from other qualifications, to reflect the unique nature of science learning. To ensure sufficient breadth and depth, the Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Extended Certificate in Applied Science has eight mandatory units and a choice of 16 further optional specialist units.
