Explore making a range of artists’ books with a focus on binding techniques, paper folding and creative content. Develop simple but effective printmaking skills to create the visual content of artists’ books. Experiment with combining contemporary book structures with the visual language of print. This course is suitable for students with some previous bookbinding and/or printmaking skills.
There will be demonstration, group discussion, one to one tuition and practical project work. To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
No previous knowledge of bookbinding or printmaking is required. This class is a great introduction to making books and creative printed book content.
Health and Safety information will be given at the start of the course and in subsequent lessons wherever necessary. You will be required to follow good studio etiquette, clean all equipment and help make sure the studio is left tidy at the end of the class.
Pencil, eraser and notebook for taking notes. Your own sketch books and drawings to work from. We will discuss in the first session if there are any other tools and materials you may want to buy or bring in.
