What you will learn

This course is an introduction to the basic principles of nutrition; an overview of the basic building blocks of what, when and how to eat effectively to improve wellness, fitness and health.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts of nutritional health
  • Describe the nutritional recommendations for dietary intake
  • Describe the basic characteristics of essential nutrients

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Certificate in Skills for Further Study in Health and Human Sciences [OCNLR]

Class format and activities

You will be taught in a number of different ways including presentation, discussions and problem solving tasks. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above.

Entry requirements

No prior knowledge is required. The course is open to all with an interest in nutrition and health.
