What you will learn

This introductory course will provide an overview and insight into Diabetes. The course will develop your knowledge and understanding of the physiological dysregulation associated with diabetes, the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the prevention of type 2 diabetes, how to control you blood sugar and the ongoing care and treatment options available.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • understand the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes
  • understand how to test and control blood sugar levels
  • describe the roles of insulin and glucagon in the body
  • describe lifestyle changes that can help with blood sugar regulation
  • describe key treatment options for diabetes

You will learn through practical activities, demonstrations, videos, and discussion.In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
