What you will learn

A one day introduction course which will focus on the anatomy of the skeletal and muscular systems. Learn the major bones of the body, the major muscles of the body and how the two work together to obtain movement. Ideal for those with no previous knowledge of the subject, and who are keen to pursue further study in the health and clinical professions.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the major bones of the skeleton
  • Classify bones as long bone, short bone, flat bone, irregular bone or sesamoid bone
  • Classify bones as axial or appendicular skeleton
  • Identify major superficial muscles of the body
  • Describe the process of muscular contraction

    This course will be offered in centre. You will be taught in a number of different ways including presentations with visual examples, discussions and problem solving activities. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above.In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
