What you will learn

This course is designed to equip participants with the fundamental skills and advanced techniques necessary for creating precise technical drawings of garments using Adobe Illustrator software. This hands-on course covers essential tools to draw precise technical flat drawings for tech packs and specifications to be used by manufacturers. The course navigates through the software’s capabilities, integrating design principles with practical applications.

Sketch fashion flat drawings in Illustrator using different ways
Produce accurate vector sketches with details and finishes for a tech pack
Communicate your design in a flat drawing

Class format and activities

The course is comprised of whole class activities along with individual guidance from the tutor. Students will learn through observing tutor demonstration followed by practical experience supported by technical handouts. You will receive regular feedback and advice from your tutor to ensure you progress well on the course.

Entry requirements

This is a beginner’s course, however, some previous experience in Adobe programmes is beneficial.

What you need to know before you enrol

Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. Students are generally expected to spend some time outside of class for completion of activities.Please note the eating and drinking is not allowed in the fashion studios - you are allowed to have bottled water. Students must be able to read, write and understand English.

What you need

The sessions will be carried out on Morley college computers, however, you are welcome to bring your own laptop with installed Adobe Illustrator on it. You can also bring computer mouse or a graphics tablet if you have one.
