This course provides a comprehensive understanding of glass painting and printing techniques. It covers the fundamentals, tools, and materials needed, as well as advanced methods and creative approaches to glass art.
You will work independently to design and make glass pieces exploring surface decorations using painting and printing techniques using glass enamels. Learners will be working on individual self-directed projects guided by your tutor Maria Zulueta. Teaching takes place in a practical workshop setting, including both presentation, discussion, and demonstration. Informal assessment will take place on a continual basis throughout the course using observation, and a group Learner presentation at the end of the course outlining the development of individual projects. To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
This course is suitable for beginners, or those who have some previous knowledge but would like further guidance and practice working with these processes.
The fee includes tuition, some materials, alongside use of specialist equipment. Learners will be expected to purchase their own glass types and small fee for the glass enamels; (guidance will be given by the tutor on the first session). You may need to purchase some additional materials depending on individual projects, as advised by your tutor.
It would be helpful to bring a sketchbook/notebook, pencils/pen/marker pen etc. You will need to wear sturdy shoes, boots or trainers (no open sandals); an apron. We have basic tools in the workshop which have been adapted to facilitate a safe learning environment.
