What you will learn

Have a taster of Spanish in a friendly and interactive class and get to grips with the basics that you will need when travelling in Spain or Latin America (e.g. greetings, personal information, food and drink, numbers, money, days of the week). This course is suitable for complete beginners or those wishing to refresh their knowledge of the basics (Level A1)

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Use basic vocabulary: numbers 1-100, nationalities, countries, greetings and courtesies, food and drinks
  • Describe people and places using basic common phrases and adjectives
  • Ask and reply to very simple questions about yourself e.g. Where do you come from?, What languages do you speak?
  • Order basic food and drinks

Class format and activities

Practising speaking, listening, reading and writing skills Learning through practical activities (individual tasks, role-plays, pair and small group work, games) Writing basic single words and short sentences, e.g. gap-filling, grammar exercises Listening for the gist or basic information Revising on topics (e.g. vocabulary) and grammar points In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

This course is aimed at complete beginners.

Good attendance and punctuality is required from all students. This course requires study/completion of activities outside of class time (1-2 hours)

What you need

You will need pen and a notebook for the weekly lessons at the college. You will also need home connection to Internet and a device to use at home. Access to Morley Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) on a weekly basis. In here you will find class and supplementary material for each lesson.
