The demanding discipline of storytelling, requires a distinct and demanding range of emotional and physical skills. This course will stretch and reward all who wish to explore their imaginations. The experience of accessing and developing your own story, is both inspiring and empowering to all. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the following learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to an advanced-level course.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Learners will be able to understand and apply techniques of delivery that will ensure an audience are 'with you' , from start to finish
- Understand global language techniques
- Understand the fundamentals of Spatial Architecture
- Learners will be able to critically assess the quality of a story and make informed choices about the best environment for its telling
- Learners will experience skills in the constructive and reconstructive processes. Learners will develop critical skill in appraising each other and learn a minimum level of skills to encourage supportive feedback

Class format and activities
You will have the chance to listen to a master storyteller - assessing the key techniques involved, developing your own practice through actual storytelling, reflection & adjustment; examining & considering the art of story telling through history, different cultures & mediums. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment. The tutor will also set assessment activities involving student exchange of ideas and student self-assessment for all students. Additionally, the tutor may provide video footage of all set-sequences to be available via Microsoft Teams/Stream. Moodle may be used for sharing useful web links, a list of music used and class news.

What you need to know before you enrol
There will be movement and other physical exercises as part of the programme. Excellent attendance and punctuality will be required from all students. This course will include some completion of activities outside of class time, e.g. preparation of favourite exercises to share with fellow students. Study can include the use of digital resources such as film & photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning. Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.
