What you will learn

A small orchestra of high standard, playing music from the 18th century to the present day. Students can join in any term. We are currently looking to recruit string and trumpet players. There will be two concerts this term, one in the middle of February and a second at the end of March.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • The work of the orchestra is ongoing and you will play a varied selection of the chamber orchestra literature from late baroque until the present day

Class format and activities

You will learn from the conductor through participation in rehearsals and preparation for performances, and from your colleagues in the orchestra. The orchestra will give two concerts on 3 February 2022 and 17 March 2022.

Entry requirements

There is an audition process, but entry is also by recommendation or application to the conductor. A level of ABRSM Grade 7/8 or comparable standard is needed and ideally some depth of previous orchestral experience. It is possible under some circumstances to join the orchestra after the start of each term.
