What you will learn

This introductory course is for anyone who wants to find out more about Anatomy and Physiology for fun or for future study. Learn about the structure and function of the human body. You will learn about the major body systems and their functions.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the terms anatomy and physiology
  • State the major body systems
  • Describe the structure of the major body systems
  • Describe the functions of the major body systems
  • Define homeostasis
  • Draw negative and positive feedback loops, and explain their functions within the body
  • Explain how the body systems work together in maintaining health

Class format and activities

This fun and engaging 5 week course will introduce you to the basic concepts of anatomy and physiology. The course will be offered in centre at the North Kensington Centre for Skills. You will learn through demonstrations, problem solving activities, group work, videos and discussion. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.: progression to an advanced- level course

Open to all - no prior knowledge necessary.
