What you will learn

Do you want to boost your writing project, find community and gain inspiration? This course will provide encouragement and guidance from a published and prize-winning author, alongside an audience of your peers. We may read examples from literature and engage in some free-writing to inspire and encourage your own development, but the bulk of each class will be devoted to giving and receiving constructive and considerate feedback on your works in progress. This course would therefore suit keen writers in any genre or form (from prose to poetry to drama etc) with a project you want to progress with, but you do not need to be an experienced author to join (beginners welcome!)

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Receive constructive feedback on your work in progress
  • Give constructive, considerate feedback on others' works in progress

Class format and activities

The class will be delivered online. We may begin with a brief reading / writing prompt for creative inspiration; however the bulk of these classes will be devoted to sharing and responding to each other's writing, with two authors sharing work per session.

Entry requirements

Open to writers at any level, from total beginners to those looking to take the next step. Given that this course offers space to share and develop your work, you will benefit most if you are an enthusiastic writer with a project you want to pursue and share excerpts from.
