What you will learn

The course is designed to provide a solid foundation in mathematics for students attaining a grade 3 in the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) maths examination in summer 2023. It is suitable for students who need to further enhance their mathematical skills and knowledge up to grade 4 .

Class format and activities

Throughout the course, students will cover essential mathematical topics and concepts that are included in the GCSE Maths Foundation syllabus, grades 1 to 4. The course aims to build confidence in working with numbers, proportion, algebra, geometry and measures, statistics and probability, ensuring students have a solid understanding of these fundamental areas before taking the GCSE Maths Foundation exam. You will benefit from: Weekly in-centre lessons during term time with compulsory homework. Use Microsoft Teams and Mathswatch VLE for assignments and additional learning. Assessment through formative assessment and a mock exam at the end of term. Discuss personal targets with your tutor at the start of the course.

Entry requirements

Initial assessments and an interview will evaluate your current maths knowledge and skills, including your capability to study. These assessments help determine the appropriate level of the GCSE Maths course for you, whether it be Foundation or Higher. Previous Maths Qualifications: Evidence of attaining GCSE Maths Grade 3 in summer 2023.
