Want to get more for your money? If you can confidently add, subtract, multiply and divide, this course will take you a step further in applying mathematical skills to solve problems of increasing complexity, through appropriate reasoning and decision making. You will study for one session per week and sit the Edexcel Level 1 Functional maths exam at the end of the course.
On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Functional Skills Qualification in Mathematics [EDEXCEL]
One lesson a week in-centre. Microsoft Teams will be used as the main platform for assignments and additional learning; including discussion boards, group chats, private messaging and submitting coursework. Assessment methods: Achievement on your course will be measured by formative assessment against the learning outcomes, and a final exam. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to another course.
Maths skills at Entry level 3 or equivalent. All new students need to take an assessment before they can enrol. Assessment dates are updated regularly on our website. Students who aim to re-take this course will only be invited if their overall attendance and timekeeping have been satisfactory so far.
• This course runs once a week and you are expected to attend every session.• Over 90% attendance and punctuality are required from all students.• This course requires some personal study time in addition to the completion of homework, please set aside an average of 5 hours per week for these activities
