Get ahead with your reading, writing and communication skills. Learn to plan, draft and write longer pieces of texts. Read different types of texts and improve your understanding and knowledge. Develop your confidence and skills to use language appropriately in discussions. Work towards achieving the Entry 3 Functional Skills English qualification.
On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Functional Skills Qualification in English (Entry 2) [EDEXCEL]
You will work on reading, writing and speaking and listening. You will learn through tutor instruction, discussion, group work and independent study. You will be given regular homework assignments in reading and writing. Achievement on your course will be measured by a pass at Entry 3 Functional Skills English. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to Level 1 Functional Skills English.
You must be fluent in spoken English. You will have been born and raised in an English-speaking country or studied in English. All new students need to take an assessment before they can enrol. Assessment dates are updated regularly on our website.
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required from all students. You will be required to study outside of class time and be able to use the internet.
You will need an A4 lined writing pad with margin, pen, pencil, coloured highlighters, a dictionary and a ring binder folder in which to keep your work.
