What you will learn

A course for drummers with a least 2 years of experience. It will explore a wider variety of drumming styles including genres such as Jazz, Afro-Cuban and Afro Brazilian. It will further develop and apply the techniques rudiments and concepts studied in the previous levels and will explore more advanced coordination studies. Reading skills will be developed further.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • To further enhance and put into practice the technical skills developed during levels 1 and 2
  • Explore a wider variety of drumming styles
  • Develop the ability to play in different styles with appropriate vocabulary
  • Apply your chart reading skills
  • Perform in front of the class

Class format and activities

Follow verbal instructions and practical demonstrations, work and practise as part of the group and individually and Perform in front of the class. Your input and participation in discussions and Q&A sessions is very important. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

Entry requirements

Participants are required to have attended Levels 1 and 2 or: Be able to confidently play crotchets, quavers, triplets and semiquavers based grooves. Be familiar with Pop, Rock, Funk, Shuffle, and Jazz drumming styles. Be able to read, interpret and perform basic drum charts .

What you need to know before you enrol

A regular practice routine is essential to keep up with the course and get the most out of it . Due to the nature of the instrument/contents of the course you might be exposed to high volume levels. We strongly encourage everyone to bring a pair of ear plugs to every lesson.
