What you will learn

This course is based on the ABRSM syllabus and is suitable for students who want to work towards the ABRSM theory grade 3 exam.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • read and write pitch beyond two ledger lines
  • understand compound meter
  • read and write music in major/minor keys up to four sharps/flats
  • answer other Grade 3 theory exam questions

Class format and activities

Teaching activities include explanations and demonstrations individual and group tasks (clapping/singing); using worksheets and textbooks, weekly homework, feedback and class discussion.

Entry requirements

You should have completed music theory Grade 2 or already have some knowledge of basic music notation.
