As lighting is the key to achieving high-quality photographs, in this hands-on course, you will explore the fundamentals of flash photography using speedlights. You will gain practical experience applying the learnt skills in both indoor and outdoor settings. By understanding how to control and manipulate light, you will take your photography skills to the next level and create striking images.

Learning Outcomes

  • Use flash (speedlights) in automatic, semi-automatic and manual mode
  • Use flash (speedlights) for lighting different subjects indoors and outdoors
  • Mixing flash with ambient light to enhance the quality of photos
  • Understand the effects of flash on image quality, including its ability to freeze action and reduce digital noise.

    Entry requirements

    The course is suitable for those who have a good understanding of the basics of photography in terms of aperture, shutter speed, ISO and light meter

    This is a practical hands-on course for those who have a good understanding of basic camera skills and want to experiment with flash (speedlight)

    You will need a DSLR (or mirrorless) camera that will allow you access to manual controls. A speedlight would be desirable
