Explore the potential of pulp and handmade paper for use across many disciplines and nurture individual responses to this versatile medium during this 4 week course. You will use professional equipment to create paper using cotton rag pulp and recycled paper with step-by-step guidance on the production of embossed, laminated, decorative and textured papers and 3D form. Having learned to make paper traditionally you will apply a range of techniques and approaches influenced by examples of Japanese paper and contemporary approaches as you pursue personal projects assisted by the tutor. There will be an emphasis on sharing knowledge and experience through discussion, show and tell and group critique at the end of the session. The tutor will facilitate group discussion and work with students one-to-one and in groups.
