What you will learn

This course will prepare you for the Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges. Achievement on your course will be measured by the completion of assignments which will form your portfolio of evidence. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals such as progression to another course or employment.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Support equality, diversity and inclusion in educational settings
  • Work as part of a team in an school or college setting
  • Locate policies and procedures for safeguarding children and young people

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Award in Support Work in Schools and Colleges [NCFE]

Class format and activities

Learning will be based around class discussions, small group teaching and individual and group research and presentation tasks.

Entry requirements

You should have English and Maths at Level 2 or above, and you should have already successfully completed a Level 1 Teaching Assistant.

Excellent attendance and punctuality of above 90% is expected from all students.

On successful completion of this course, you can enrol onto the CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching, or seek employment within a school as a member of the support staff.
